'So clever': Chris Sutton says Euro 2024 attacker Tottenham reportedly want to sign is very intelligent

Chris Sutton has hailed a rumoured Tottenham target at Euro 2024.

Spain demolished Georgia 4-1 in the round of 16 to advance to the quarter-finals of the competition where they will meet the hosts Germany.

Having gone behind in the tie, La Roja quickly turned their fortunes around and the attacking talent on show was a joy to watch for neutrals.

One of them being a player who Tottenham reportedly want to sign and Sutton delivered a glowing report of his display.

Tottenham target Dani Olmo shines

Spain’s Dani Olmo has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur in recent months and after his display against Georgia, they might not be alone in their interest.

Olmo didn’t actually start the game but when he came on for Pedri in the 52nd minute, he instantly made a big impression and eventually his endeavour paid off with a marvellous goal.

Sutton hailed the rumoured Tottenham target, speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live: “I’ll tell you what, what a Spanish bench!

“You can bring the likes of Dani Olmo on and I’ll tell you what, the finish is so clever.

“He’s been lively since he’s come on and Georgia seem to be tiring.

“A great little shift onto his left foot to wrong foot Mamardashvili in the Georgian goal and slides the ball into the net. Spain are the team to beat as far as I can see.”

Dani Olmo has a £50m release clause

TBR exclusively reported last week that the RB Leipzig and Spain playmaker has a £50m release clause and has already held talks with clubs from the Premier League.

The clause is active until mid-July, so Spurs will have to get a brisk move on the deal in order if they are to land him for a discounted fee.

Otherwise, Leipzig will then hold the cards in negotiations and can charge a premium for his signature.
