Exclusive: Newcastle set to beat host of European clubs to signing of 'huge talent', he's agreed to terms

Newcastle United’s summer transfer window is up and running and they are now set to announce another addition.

Lloyd Kelly was announced as a free agent signing earlier in the month and Newcastle also sealed the permanent signing of Lewis Hall.

Despite concerns over complying with the PSR deadline at the end of the month, the Toon are not slowing down when it comes to summer additions.

TBR Football can confirm that Newcastle have agreed terms with Serbian starlet Miodrag Pivas and he arrived in England on Wednesday to complete a medical.

Newcastle set to secure signing of Miodrag Pivas

Having undergone his medical at St James’ Park on Wednesday, Newcastle are now set to secure the signing of the Serbian talent.

The addition will see Newcastle beat serious competition to the signature of the exciting prospect.

The 19-year-old defender, who can also play in midfield, was wanted by a host of clubs across Europe but Newcastle have move to agree terms as his current contract is due to expire.

TBR understands that Borussia Dortmund and Monaco were amongst clubs who were keen – together with Brentford, Everton and Fulham in England.

Pivas spent just one year with the Serbian side Jedinstvo Ub where he racked up 35 appearances across all competitions as he caught the eye of sides across Europe.

What Nemanja Matic said about Miodrag Pivas

The young defensive midfielder has clearly impressed a number of big clubs across Europe with the performances he has put in over in Serbia.

At the age of 19, Pivas has most recently played in the Serbian second tier but he will arrive on Tyneside with some significant praise from one of his nation’s best-ever players in Nemanja Matic.

“A huge talent and serious potential. If he continues this way, he’s on the path to the national team. In my opinion, we haven’t seen a player with such predispositions since Nemanja Vidic and Bane Ivanovic,” Matic told the Nogomania.

“A complete player and a top professional.”
