Jude Bellingham makes point about Cole Palmer in interview straight after England beat Slovakia

Jude Bellingham has been speaking about Chelsea star Cole Palmer following England’s 2-1 win against Slovakia on Sunday.

It was Jude Bellingham who prevented England from being knocked out of Euro 2024 after he scored a bicycle kick in stoppage time to equalise for his country.

Slovakia had taken the lead in the first half thanks to Ivan Schranz, but Bellingham eventually managed to cancel out his goal before Harry Kane’s winner in extra time.

The Real Madrid man and England captain were the nation’s heroes on the day.

However, Bellingham was also quick to praise Palmer for his contribution.

Understandably, everyone will be lauding Bellingham for his heroics.

England were on the verge of getting knocked out of the European Championship before his stunning goal.

The 21-year-old, though, feels that England could not have won the game without Palmer and the Three Lions’ other substitutes on the day.

Speaking to ITV straight after the match, Bellingham said: “Look at who came on there. We’ve won this game together. Not me, not Harry [Kane], not the individual moments where, you know, you look back on it in maybe a few years’ time and talk about the game.

“It’s the likes of Ivan Toney, [Eberechi] Eze, Cole Palmer and I could name all the rest coming on.”

Did Cole Palmer do enough to earn a start in the Euro 2024 quarter-finals?

Palmer is yet to start a game in Germany. So far, Gareth Southgate has gone for Bukayo Saka’s speed and experience instead.

The Arsenal man was moved to left-back in Sunday’s game when Palmer came on so that his teammate could play on the right.

Palmer, though, probably did not make enough of an impact to displace Saka.

Still, knowing what the 22-year-old can bring to the table, he is still someone who Southgate has to consider starting in the quarter-finals.

This is an attacker who came up with 33 goal contributions in 33 Premier League appearances last season, which was more than any other player.
