Report: Premier League club are now considering surprise move for £38m Chelsea player

West Ham United are reportedly interested in signing one player from Chelsea this summer.

Chelsea have quite a few players who could catch the attention of Premier League clubs in the coming weeks.

The futures of Romelu Lukaku, Conor Gallagher and Armando Broja, for example, remain up in the air.

With Lukaku and Gallagher still competing at Euro 2024, though, it is unlikely that anything happens with them yet.

Broja, on the other hand, now has time to sort out his future following Albania’s elimination from the tournament.

West Ham United have Chelsea man on their radar

The likes of Lukaku and Broja went out on loan last season.

Lukaku joined AS Roma, while Broja linked up with Chelsea’s west London rivals Fulham for the second half of the campaign.

It would now be a surprise if either player remained at Stamford Bridge this summer, with Lukaku now being linked to West Ham.

According to GiveMeSport, the Hammers view the 31-year-old as an alternative to Lille’s Jonathan David and are weighing up making a move for him.

Another report from the outlet claims that Chelsea value Lukaku at £38m.

Another reason for Chelsea to sign Jonathan David

As well as West Ham, Chelsea are also thought to be interested in signing David.

The Canada international scored 26 goals in 47 appearances for Lille last season. As per FBref, he has also ranked in the 83rd percentile for non-penalty goals among forwards over the last year.

His firepower could make him a good signing for Chelsea this summer.

And if bringing David in could help the Blues to shift Lukaku on to West Ham permanently, then that is another reason to recruit the 24-year-old.

Of course, there is no guarantee that Lukaku would say yes to joining Julen Lopetegui’s side, with the Belgium international clearly in love with Serie A after multiple spells there.

It has been claimed that AC Milan are one Italian club who are interested in signing him this summer.
