'World class': National media left blown away by 'magic' £50m attacker Arsenal want to sign at Euro 2024

One attacker who Arsenal have been strongly linked with this summer has continued to amaze at Euro 2024.

As well as signing a full-back and a central midfielder, Mikel Arteta is thought to want to add more quality in attacking areas.

Last season, Arsenal’s decision-makers felt as if Arteta’s side lacked someone with ‘x-factor’ – particularly after their Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich.

And as a result, Edu and his team seem to be following a number of forwards this summer.

RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko was the focus of Arsenal’s early pursuit, but since those attempts failed, it seems as if Arteta’s side may seek a wide forward instead.

And of all the names linked with a move to north London, Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams seems to have captivated Arsenal fans the most.

Any move for Williams would be very difficult owing to his wages, but that certainly hasn’t stopped links.

And following William’s latest ‘world class’ display for Spain at Euro 2024 on Sunday evening, local media have now been reacting to his performance.

Spanish media laud Arsenal target Nico Williams after ‘electric’ Euro 2024 display

21-year-old Williams played a key role in the 4-1 win which sent Georgia out of the competition, who had fought so bravely.

But with Williams on one flank and Lamine Yamal on the other, any country would struggle to contain right now – and England should consider it a blessing that they would avoid them until the final, should they even progress that far.

That being said, Spanish outlet ABC hailed Williams’ showing as ‘world class’, able to overcome several Georgian players marking him.

They wrote: “World class. Despite the two and three defenders hovering over him, he managed to find magic.

“He found Rodri’s position in the equalising goal and, with a dribble and a finish at the level of few, he scored the third and sealed the match.”

Sport 45 shared those sentiments, saying: “He challenged his rivals, faced up and shot at goal.

“He did everything so that Spain always had a solution on the left wing. He sealed the match with a trademark goal. Power, quality and definition.”

Nico Williams’ unpredictability could be perfect for Arsenal

Estadio Deportivo celebrated the ‘unpredictability’ of Williams’ game – a trait that certainly matches the ‘x-factor’ addition that Arsenal are looking for.

They shared: “The Athletic winger is electric and his dribbling is unpredictable for the defender’s eye.

“Georgia knew this and trapped the striker on the wing. He scored the third goal after getting past the Georgian full-back and beating Mamardashvili with a shot into the centre of the goal.”

As mentioned, William’s wages could be an issue for Arsenal given he’s already on such a sizable amount.

But if Edu and Arteta want to prove their ambition this summer, then beating Barcelona to Williams would be an immense statement.

Williams has reiterated that he’s happy in Bilbao, but that doesn’t mean that Arsenal shouldn’t test the waters.

All that being said, Declan Rice has just shared what he told Jude Bellingham before England’s remarkable equaliser on Sunday.
