Report: Arsenal flew scouts out to watch £26m 'rising star' at Euro 2024 yesterday and he won

Arsenal had scouts in attendance to assess the performance of one defensive target at Euro 2024 on Wednesday.

Right now, Edu and his team are likely attempting to have all the foundations in place to attack the summer transfer window once the Euros ends.

By this time last year, the Premier League was littered with exciting deals, but international tournaments have caused a delay.

Kai Havertz made his switch from Chelsea to Arsenal on June 29 last year, and the Gunners are not thought to be anywhere near that sort of progress right now.

Of course, that doesn’t mean that Edu is lying dormont, he’ll recognise the need to provide Mikel Arteta with the necessary profiles to beat Pep Guardiola – in what could be the Manchester City manager’s last season in England.

That being said, Arteta is thought to primarily desire the attention of a new left-back, a central midfielder and a forward.

And of all three requests, it has to be said that Arsenal’s most glaring gap is in defence.

Arsenal had scouts watching Turkiye defender Ferdi Kadioglu at Euro 2024

After two seasons at Arsenal, Oleksandr Zinchenko doesn’t seem to have the defensive acumen to match the ambition of this project, a harsh but well-evidenced conclusion.

As a potential replacement, Arsenal are said to be interested in Fenerbahce defender Ferdi Kadioglu.

The 24-year-old Tukiye international, who was born in the Netherlands, is a right-footer who plays on the left, explaining his strong ability to invert into midfield.

Arsenal have been linked with a £26m move for the ‘rising star‘, and according to a report by Turkish-Football, the club had scouts in attendance for Turkey’s win over Czechia on Wednesday.

Kadioglu played all 90 minutes of the 2-1 win, which confirmed Turkey’s safe passage to the round of 16.

The left-back has impressed in Germany, leading to the idea that Arsenal would need to move swiftly to win the race for his signature.

But with that in mind, Jose Mourinho is determined to keep his new star this summer, having just been appointed Fenerbahce boss.

However, if Arsenal stump up the money, it ultimately seems as if the Turkish club will sell, and won’t stand in the way of Kadioglu’s progression.

That being said, Arsenal are also said to be interested in signing a defender from Barcelona.
