Report: Whether Archie Gray is set to be present on day one of Leeds United's pre-season training today

Archie Gray is edging closer to a move to Tottenham Hotspur on Monday from Leeds United and a report has shared if he could be present on day one of Leeds’ pre-season training today.

It has been a tumultuous weekend for the 18-year-old talent. It began with reports coming out of nowhere that Brentford were closing in on the signing of Gray in a deal said to be worth a fee of £40m.

Leeds gave Gray permission to travel to London for a medical. The youngster was said to be happy at Leeds, but The 49ers told him he needed to be sold so Leeds comply with Profit & Sustainability rules.

However, Leeds then rejected Brentford’s bid in a surprise twist given the need to sell. It then became apparent that it was Gray’s change of heart, preferring a move to Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham side.

Tottenham closing in on deal for Gray as Leeds players return

There is now a confidence between Leeds, Tottenham and Gray that a deal can be done and possibly completed on Monday. Fabrizio Romano gave a new update on Monday as Gray waits to do a medical.

It looks like Gray will be on his way to London in the coming hours, though it is unclear if Spurs will match Brentford’s £40m offer. There have been suggestions Leeds rejected Brentford due to payment structure.

Meanwhile, Leeds players return to pre-season training today and Leeds Live say that it is unlikely Gray will be present. They say he could miss the first day back as he edges closer to a move to the Capital.

There is the possibility of a player-plus-cash deal with Tottenham

While Leeds need to cash in on Gray in order to avoid a points deduction today, there is still the option of a player-plus-cash deal. Leeds obviously want to sign Joe Rodon, thoughIpswich have made a verbal bid.

Oliver Skipp is also a player of interest to Leeds after starring under Daniel Farke in his second promotion to the Premier League with Norwich. Reports say one of the two could be included in a deal for Gray.

With Rodon valued at £10m and Gray’s deal said to be £40m, a fee of £30m and Rodon could change hands. Spurs are unlikely to want to lose Skipp permanently and maybe a loan could be included for him.
