Report: Rodrigo Bentancur's Uruguay teammate is trying to get him to leave Tottenham for UCL club

Rodrigo Bentancur’s international teammate really wants him to leave North London for his club who ply their trade in the Champions League, according to a recent report.

The North Londoners are expected to undergo a squad rebuild this summer with as many as 10 players departing the club.

Tottenham look set to sign Leeds United midfielder Archie Gray and that may force out Bentancur, who has been linked with a move away in recent weeks.

With that said, his Urugauy teammate is trying to convince him to leave.

Fernando Muslera trying to get Rodrigo Bentancur to join Galatasaray

According to Domac, via Milligazete, Uruguay goalkeeper Fernando Muslera is trying to convince Bentancur to join Turkish champions Galatasaray.

“Fernando Muslera stepped in for Bentancur. ‘Come to Galatasaray and let’s play together.’ His departure from Tottenham is in question. Muslera’s persistence could be a positive result,” the outlet wrote.

TBR ran a report last week noting that the midfielder has been offered to Galatasaray, so clearly Spurs are eager to do a deal, it remains a case of it personal terms can be agreed upon.

There has been an indication that Bentancur would be keen on a move to the Champions League club, so pair that with the Muslera contact, who is almost acting as an agent, it seems likely he’ll be leaving the club after two and a half years.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg could block the deal

Whilst all the early signs are pointing towards a Bentancur exit, it seems Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg could scupper that.

That’s because Hojbjerg is still regarded as Galatasaray’s priority target and if they do land his signature, it seems unlikely they’d continue to pursue a move for the Uruguay international.

A telling few weeks lie ahead.
