Report: Tottenham player with 101 appearances willing to slash his wages to leave

A Tottenham player is willing to take a pay cut to leave the North Londoners this summer, according to a recent report.

Tottenham are expected to move on a number of first-teamers this window as Ange Postecoglou looks to reshape his squad.

The Australian won’t be satisfied with a fifth-placed finish and will be eager to return to the illustrious Champions League.

To do that, he’ll need to be heavily backed financially meaning sales will have to be sanctioned to boost the transfer kitty.

That said, one Spurs player is desperate to leave and even willing to take a pay cut.

Emerson Royal willing to take pay cut to leave Tottenham Hotspur

According to Corriere dello Sport, Tottenham Hotspur full-back Emerson Royal has agreed to slash his wages in a bid to join Serie A giants AC Milan.

The 101 Spurs appearance maker is really keen on a move to Milan and has already agreed on personal terms.

Now, the only stumbling block is if his £21m price tag will be met because the Italian outfit are hopeful of completing a deal for less than £16.8m.

Given Daniel Levy’s history in negotiations, it seems unlikely Tottenham will be willing to go much lower than their valuation, so this deal is still some way from being completed.

Tottenham should accelerate the sale

Rather than putting their foot down and delaying the sale, Spurs should try to come to a compromise to get the deal done as soon as possible.

That way, they could use the funds to spend on other areas, with Lille’s Jonathan David a potential option to finally replace Harry Kane.

Eberechi Eze has been a name mooted in recent weeks, too, so there is plenty to be done in North London.
