Meet Chelsea's imminent £30m signing who rejected Brighton to join Enzo Maresca's side

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is a professional footballer who has seemingly rejected Brighton to join Chelsea from Leicester City this summer.

Dewsbury-Hall enjoyed an excellent 2023-24 campaign as Enzo Maresca’s Leicester side won the Championship title.

And, he likely would have continued to be integral to the Foxes had it not been for the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rule (PSR).

Indeed, Leicester needed to sell a key player in order to comply with said rule and Dewsbury-Hall was arguably their most wanted.

He looked certain to be joining Brighton and even underwent a medical with them before Chelsea swooped in and convinced the Englishman to move to Stamford Bridge instead.

So, with Dewsbury-Hall now expected to reunite with Maresca at the West London club, The Chelsea Chronicle tell you everything you need to know about him below.

Where and when was Dewsbury-Hall born?

Kiernan Frank Dewsbury-Hall was born in Nottingham, England on September 6, 1998. He signed for Leicester’s youth team in 2006 and has been with them ever since.

Dewsbury-Hall position

Dewsbury-hall is a central midfielder, also known as a ‘number eight’. He typically plays in a box-to-box role, meaning that he is asked to contribute to every aspect of the game. However, under now-Chelsea boss Maresca, he was asked to play slightly further forward and give up some of his defensive responsibilities.

Career

Dewsbury-Hall stats

Dewsbury-Hall rarely made an impact in the final third prior to the 2023-24 campaign. Yet, in Maresca’s system, he contributed an outstanding 12 goals and 14 assists in 44 Championship appearances. He only needs to half those numbers at Chelsea next season to be considered a very shrewd piece of business.

Dewsbury-Hall FIFA rating

Dewsbury-Hall was given an overall rating of 76 in EA Sports FC 24 – the same as Blues full-back Malo Gusto. His best attributes include stamina (85), short pass (79) and ball control (78). One can assume that he will receive an upgrade to at least 78 in next season’s game.

Dewsbury-Hall transfer value

Dewsbury-Hall has a transfer value of £25.5 million, according to Transfermarkt. This suggests that the £30m fee that Chelsea will pay Leicester represents a fair deal for both sides. Having said that, if the midfielder were to excel at Stamford Bridge and become an England regular in the future, his value would probably rise to upwards of £40m.

Dewsbury-Hall salary

Dewsbury-Hall’s Chelsea salary is currently unknown, though he is likely to earn somewhere in the region of £100,000 per week, similar to that of Carney Chukwuemeka.

His weekly wage at Leicester for the 2023-24 season was £45,000, having reduced from £75,000 following their relegation from the Premier League, according to Salary Sport.
