Jude Bellingham now sends message to Ebere Eze after Crystal Palace star shines in England 2-1 Slovakia

Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze featured for England once again as Euro 2024 moved from the group stages to the knockouts.

The Three Lions faced off with Slovakia but found themselves one goal behind heading into the break, with Ivan Schranz effort beating Jordan Pickford.

Gareth Southgate and his side had their backs to the wall, facing an exit from Euro 2024 at the first knockout hurdle.

The England manager called upon Eze in the dying embers, with the winger playing a part in a dramatic comeback that followed.

Marc Guehi’s flick from an initial long throw found the boot of Jude Bellingham, meeting the ball with an overhead kick that brought the nation level in added time.

Just seconds into extra time, Eze’s effort found the head of Ivan Toney, who flicked the ball onto Harry Kane for the winner.

England eeked through by the skin of their teeth, but it could go down as a memorable night that the Crystal Palace stars played a hand in turning around.

Jude Bellingham and Yannick Bolasie react to Eberechi Eze message

Following the round of 16 victory, Eze took to Instagram to upload some pictures of himself and the England team celebrating.

With the Palace ace showing yet more of his ability with an appearance from the bench, the comments were filled with praise for the spark he brought to the team.

Match-winner Jude Bellingham simply commented: “Too Eze” while Crystal Palace hero Yannick Bolasie said: “Gliderrrrr”.

Ian Wright, Fikayo Tomori and Adebayo Akinfenwa all left applause in the comments section, while one account commented: “Made in the cages”, calling back to Eze’s hobby of cage football from his youth.

What next for Eze and England?

With England’s miraculous comeback, there’s still at least one more game ahead of them in their Euro 2024 journey.

Next up is a clash against Switzerland in the quarter-finals, with a place in the final four of the competition up for grabs.

The Three Lions will have to wait until Saturday, July 6th before they face off with the Swiss in Dusseldorf, with kick-off scheduled for 5pm (BST).

It remains to be seen whether Eze will be given the nod to play on the left flank for the clash, given Phil Foden’s struggles there so far.

Meanwhile, his Palace teammate Guehi is guaranteed to miss the clash after receiving a second yellow card of the tournament against Slovakia, resulting in a one-game suspension.
