Former inmate's genius hack to make chicken wings 'prison' style is a winner

A former prisoner has offered her followers a unique style of cooking class as she revealed how inmates could make chicken wings and mashed potatoes using a hair dryer.

Though a version of prison is shown on TV, albeit the violent side of life behind bars, there is an entire subculture online pulling back the jailhouse curtain. Already, we’ve been treated to insider information about how to use readily available items for makeup looks.

How to make prison-style chicken wings

Casey (@casseystarcevic) is a transgender woman who was placed inside a men’s prison to serve her time. Following her release, she has become an influencer of sorts, accumulating over 25k followers.

In a recent video, Casey challenged the recently released Gypsy Rose Blanchard to a prison-style cookoff. Gypsy has found herself at new heights of fame following her release, racking up almost 10 million followers on TikTok alongside an upcoming Lifetime special.

Taking to the video-sharing app, Casey pulled back the steel bars to offer fans a look into kitchen culture in prison. As you might have expected, it’s a lot more creative and complicated than regular home cooking.

Starting off, Casey split a bag of potato chips into two, with half being placed into a bowl for the mashed potatoes. The remaining half was then combined with jalapeno chips crushed to dust. Casey then tipped her chicken into the makeshift breadcrumbs with a splash of pickle juice.

To cook the nuggets using only a hair dryer, Casey made a DIY oven using the chip wrapper and a paper bag. Once inside, the chicken was cooked “until crispy.”

For the mashed potatoes, and we use that term loosely, Casey took her remaining chips and microwaved them with water. As you can imagine, the consistency resembled a porridge.

‘Makes me think a prisoner invented the air fryer’

Understandably, most of Casey’s followers were taken aback by the skill she demonstrated using an air fryer and common grocery store products.

“The innovation is wild,” one person said, as another wrote, “Girl, I love you so much! Gypsy got nothing on you!”

Someone else said: “I just know everyone wanted to be your friend over these snacks.”
