Jurgen Klopp sends message to former Liverpool player as he begins new job as manager

Jurgen Klopp has been absolutely living his best life since leaving Liverpool in May.

Klopp emotionally walked away from the Reds after almost nine years at the end of the season.

Since then, it feels like the German has been spotted just about everywhere. From playing padel out in Mallorca to attending a Taylor Swift concert at Anfield and also the Champions League final, Jurgen has been about.

Earlier this week the former Liverpool boss was also seen taking in the tennis, with the Mallorca Championships rolling into his new surroundings. There Klopp gave his prediction for this summer’s Copa America.

And now, as an empty pre-season rolls around for the first time in nine years for the 56-year-old, his focus has turned to cheering on his former players.

Jurgen Klopp sends Nuri Sahin message

Although Klopp does look to be having a blast, it will certainly be a strange time for him now.

Often seen wearing his Germany national team shirt, the boss will no doubt be loving the ongoing Euros, as well as the Copa America.

But once that all stops there will be no AXA Training Centre for him to come back to. Klopp’s summer of fun will go on and on.

The same is obviously not true of his former players, though. The Liverpool squad will reconvene under Arne Slot and Jurgen will surely be keeping an ear out for how things are progressing on Merseyside.

Others who have been lucky enough to be managed by Klopp are now trying their hand at his old game: management.

One who has taken on the most high-profile role this summer is former Liverpool man Nuri Sahin. Though he obviously never played for Klopp while with the Reds, Sahin was a big part of Jurgen’s title-winning Borussia Dortmund sides.

Despite being just 35, the former midfielder is now the head coach of the German club. And taking to Instagram as Sahin started work on Monday, Klopp issued his support.

“Exactly 16 years ago was my first day at BVB and today you take the helm – wishing you much success my friend, it will be great,” wrote the legendary manager.

Nuri Sahin one to watch for Liverpool

With Slot coming onboard Liverpool are obviously not in need of a new head coach for the time being, and hopefully won’t be for some time yet.

But nevertheless, they will always be on the lookout for those who can one day potentially come into the dugout.

Xabi Alonso reportedly still has his eye on a Liverpool return, for example, while other former players such as Fernando Torres may be thinking of the same thing up, too.

For Sahin things are a little different. Dortmund is very much his club, with Liverpool being a mere six-month stop in a difficult moment of his career.

But the 35-year-old has always spoken well of the Reds and if he does well over in Germany maybe he’ll get the chance to come back for some unfinished business.

Good luck Nuri, we’ll be watching on.
