Report shares surprising update about Crystal Palace No.52 David Ozoh - opinion

Crystal Palace are having a busy start to July, but now there has been a surprising update regarding David Ozoh’s future at the club.

Since Oliver Glasner arrived at Selhurst Park, most of the players have thrived and become better versions of themselves. But that just isn’t the case with one man in particular.

David Ozoh was in the midst of a breakout year under Roy Hodgson, featuring in five of the former manager’s last nine games. But under Glasner, he made just two appearances.

For Crystal Palace, this will be an issue as a promising young footballer needs to be playing and with several top midfielders ahead of him in the pecking order, a departure this summer could be on, but now there has been a shocking report.

David Ozoh could be leaving Crystal Palace permanently

With the summer transfer window now in full swing, there has been an update about David Ozoh which comes as a shock.

This comes according to a report from South London Press which explains that a permanent exit could actually be on the cards for the talented 19-year-old this summer.

Luton Town are the club eyeing up a permanent move for the No. 52 from Selhurst Park this summer. Meanwhile, Plymouth has asked for Ozoh on loan.

Luton were relegated during the 2023/24 season and clearly has ambitions of leaping straight back up to the Premier League and are hoping the Copers Cope midfielder can do just that.

But if Palace were to sell Ozoh, it’d be a strange move from a club which champions youth.

Selling Ozoh would be a huge shock

While departures are expected this summer, such as Michael Olise who is looking to be heading to Bayern Munich despite some sticking points, selling an academy player who has yet to shine doesn’t make sense.

Ozoh wouldn’t fetch a huge transfer fee and has already shown he has the ability to play at a Premier League level so it makes us wonder why the Eagles would even consider selling.

A loan would be a far better move for the club, however for Ozoh a departure permanently might actually be a smart move considering the talent which is ahead of him at Selhurst Park and that Glasner doesn’t quite fancy him just yet.

We will have to wait and see what happens with this move, but we’d still be mightily surprised if Ozoh was permanently sold.
