Report: Jorginho has privately told Mikel Arteta he should sign £40m player for Arsenal

Jorginho has become a very important player at Arsenal.

The Italian played a key role for the Gunners last season as they came so close to winning the Premier League title.

However, it’s not just on the pitch where Jorginho is having an impact.

Indeed, Jorginho is also a real leader behind-the-scenes, while he’s having a bit of an impact on Arsenal’s transfer dealings too.

Last summer, Kai Havertz joined Arsenal off the back of speaking to Jorginho about life at the Emirates, and now, the midfielder could again be key to another Arsenal signing.

Jorginho has recommended a signing to Mikel Arteta

Jorginho played a bit of a role when Havertz signed for Arsenal last season, and now, he’s at it again.

Indeed, according to Football Transfers, Jorginho has now privately recommended to Mikel Arteta that Arsenal should sign Riccardo Calafiori.

The midfielder knows the defender well from their time playing together for the Italian national team, and a string of impressive performances at Euro 2024 have put the £40m man in the shop window.

Jorginho has told Arteta he should sign Calafiori, and the Gunners are said to be keen on the centre-back.

Agent Jorginho

Jorginho is getting towards the end of his career, and perhaps he could have a future in recruitment or being an agent once he hangs up his boots.

Indeed, this is the second time in two years that Jorginho has potentially played a part in an Arsenal signing, and he clearly has an interest in this side of the game.

Jorginho’s football IQ is incredibly high, and it stands to reason to believe that he knows how to identify a top player.

Of course, whether or not Arsenal listen to Jorginho’s advice remains to be seen, but after a fantastic season with Bologna, it’s easy to understand why Jorginho has recommended Calafiori to Arteta.
