'Been told': Chelsea want to sell two players before they sign new striker this summer - journalist

Chelsea have just signed Marc Guiu from Barcelona.

However, it looks like Chelsea could still sign another striker before the transfer window closes.

It has been claimed, though, that the Blues want to sell two players before they bring in another centre-forward.

They have been linked with Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak, but a deal for the 24-year-old looks difficult.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Eddie Howe has already made it clear to the Newcastle board that he does not want to see Isak depart this summer.

Which players do Chelsea want to sell?

Journalist Simon Phillips has claimed that Chelsea want to get rid of Romelu Lukaku and one other player before strengthening up front.

On Substack, he said: “SPTC sources have also been told that Chelsea ideally want to get outgoing moves sorted and done for both Romelu Lukaku and Armando Broja before they are to bring in their new striker.”

Exits for Lukaku and Broja both look likely this summer.

They spent time away from Chelsea last season, so they do not appear to be part of the club’s plans.

Should Chelsea sell Romelu Lukaku and Armando Broja?

Since his loan move to Inter Milan back in 2022, there have never been any signs to suggest that Lukaku wants to be part of Chelsea’s first team.

Considering that, the Blues should get rid of him for good this summer if an appropriate offer arrives.

As for Broja, it depends. If Chelsea can definitely bring in a top No.9, then the 22-year-old should be allowed to leave Stamford Bridge.

If not, then they may be better off keeping him. Of course, the arrival of Guiu is also something that needs to be taken into account.

Should Enzo Maresca decide to include him in his senior squad, then there is certainly scope for Broja to depart regardless of what further business Chelsea do. As of now, you would expect both him and Lukaku to leave the club.
