Spring (Texas) Dekaney four-star tight end Nick Townsend has largely been focused on four schools as his recruitment heats up.

“LSU, Alabama, Texas A&M, and Texas,” he told InsideTexas.

Townsend visited both the in-state programs last month, as well as trips to Alabama and USC. With those now complete, the next question becomes which one will win out and when he will commit.

The latter is uncertain as of now, but the Longhorns are trending in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) as the favorite to land him.

That follows an expert prediction from On3’s Steve Wiltfong, who logged the pick on Tuesday morning.

The 6-foot-3, 225-pound Townsend is the No. 142 overall prospect in the 2025 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also ranks as the nation’s No. 7 tight end and the No. 26 recruit in the Lone Star State.

As a junior last fall, Townsend amassed 431 receiving yards and seven TDs on just 18 catches, plus two rushing touchdowns in his six carries. He played both ways for the Wildcats, logging 76 tackles, 11.5 TFL, and 8.0 sacks as well.
