Miguel Almiron must now seek advice from Newcastle United hero who just defended him on social media - opinion

It will be a major surprise if Miguel Almiron is still a Newcastle United player when the summer transfer window closes.

While the Magpies no longer need to sell to appease PSR in the short-term, there are still players who they would like to move on.

One of those is Miguel Almiron, with Newcastle United willing to listen to offers for the Paraguay international.

Saudi Arabia move an option for Newcastle United’s Miguel Almiron

It has been reported that the Magpies want to receive around £20million for the 30-year-old, with the club already holding talks with a club in Saudi Arabia about a deal to take him to the Middle East.

That sounds great, as the sooner Almiron is sold then the sooner the money can be reinvested.

However, it remains to be seen if a summer move to the Saudi Pro League appeals to a player who said ‘no’ to that opportunity in January.

Newcastle United could have sold Almiron at the start of the year, with Al-Shabab trying to sign him. However, he did not want to leave Newcastle for a club in Saudi Arabia.

Almiron should seek Saudi Arabia advice from Allan Saint-Maximin

Now Miggy could have a fresh chance to move to Saudi Arabia, at a time when it is clear that Newcastle are ready to say goodbye.

That leaves Almiron with a difficult decision to make, and one he should seek advice on from his former Toon teammate Allan Saint-Maximin.

He made the same move that Almiron could make, joining Al-Ahli last summer. He left Newcastle for £23million, and is now playing in Jeddah alongside the likes of Riyad Mahrez and Roberto Firmino.

Moving to Saudi Arabia is not a decision that Almiron should rush into, especially because of the fact that he has a young family. That is why he should speak to Saint-Maximin about his experience so far in Saudi Arabia, and see if it can help convince him that it is the right move for his career.

If not, then Newcastle will need to find another buyer.

This comes at a time when Saint-Maximin has already helped Almiron out, having defended the speedster on social media after he was criticised for turning down a move away from St James’ Park in January.
