'The truth is': Argentina FA president now shares honest verdict on Lionel Messi playing for Inter Miami

The president of the Argentina FA Claudio Tapia has given his thoughts on Lionel Messi playing in MLS with Inter Miami.

The 37-year-old attacker’s decision to make the move to America last summer despite being one of the best players in the world still caught a lot of fans and pundits by surprise, yet the transfer has proven to be an ingenious move for Messi.

The reigning Ballon d’Or holder has been exceptional in MLS and is seemingly loving live in Florida at Inter Miami, where Messi has since been joined by former FC Barcelona teammates Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba.

And the head of soccer in Argentina has now given his thoughts on Messi’s move to MLS and Inter Miami.

Tapia proud to see Messi happy at Inter Miami on and off the pitch

Speaking to Bein Sports, El Chiqui shared how happy he is to see Messi enjoying his soccer once again at Inter Miami, with Tapia noting that the Argentine’s family also seem to be loving life in the United States in Florida.

Setting numerous MLS records already this year, Messi’s out-of-this-world antics are yet to slow down since moving to America, and key figures back home in Argentina are now happy to see the forward look so comfortable at Inter Miami.

Tapia said when asked how he has judged Messi’s move to Inter Miami one year on: “The truth is that we see Messi being very happy here in Miami. We see him happy playing football and also happy with his family.

“His family is also doing well, and that reflects how he feels because he is truly very content. It makes us happy that he is doing well at his club, his club also won recently which Messi is aware of, and the national team won as well. All we want is that he continues to enjoy himself even more.”

Messi hasn’t looked as happy as he currently does in years

Messi’s overall happiness was clearly hit when the forward was forced out of Barcelona and joined PSG in 2021, with the national team proving to be the only source of joy for the attacker.

Yet now at Inter Miami, the spark has returned to Messi, something that can be seen in his soccer and his performances on the pitch in the last 12 months for the Florida franchise.

Whilst age is playing a role, Messi looks to be back to his best at Inter Miami, and supporters of the club and MLS are benefiting greatly because of it.
