Don’t copy a clown’s makeup, like ever

David Torres-Fuentes (@davidtorresfuentes) is a professional clown with over 166k followers on TikTok where he usually posts content centered around his job.

In a post last week that has since accumulated 2.3 million views and nearly 300k likes, David touched on the subject of clown makeup after a fan asked if it was frowned upon to copy another’s look.

“You can [copy a clown’s face], you can do it, no one is going to stop you. There’s not like clown jail you can go to,” he told his followers. “It’s not a great look on you.”

David continued to explain that each clown face is unique to the clown, meaning they have carefully selected each product and step to create their desired character.

By copying their makeup, which is designed for their facial structure, you setting yourself up for failure. It’s a little like buying the same furniture as your friend despite it not fitting in your bedroom.

“If someone who does not have my facial structure, which is almost everyone out there, does my makeup on their face it’s not going to look good.

“It’s going to look fine, but it’s not going to move the same way it moves on my face because they don’t have the same muscles and the same proportions that I do.”

David’s work paid off

Most of the clown’s followers understood why copying another performer’s face could be more trouble than it’s worth, while some congratulated him on his “perfect” makeup.

One person said: “Idk anything about clown culture but your clown makeup looks so perfect for your face.”

“Your clown makeup is so good, it emphasizes your expressions really well!!” another said.

A third wrote: “Your clown face is one of my favorites! Not scary at all, makes you look friendly, which is the goal I’m assuming.”
