£34m striker who Tottenham have been scouting now sends message to Micky van de Ven

Tottenham Hotspur have kicked off their summer with the signing of Archie Gray from Leeds United but there remains plenty of work to be done.

Ange Postecoglou is reportedly keen to bring in a new striker and Spurs have been linked with a host of names.

Tottenham are seriously considering a move for Lille’s Jonathan David, who netted 26 times for the Ligue 1 outfit last term.

Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez and Brentford star Ivan Toney also continue to be thrown into the mix.

One of Spurs’ striker targets is currently at Euro 2024 and has sent a message to Micky van de Ven after the Tottenham defender booked his place in the quarter-finals last night.

Tottenham target reacts to Van de Ven’s Euro 2024 win

Van de Ven is yet to start a game for the Netherlands at Euro 2024 but has featured regularly off the bench at left-back.

The Spurs star got 20 minutes under his belt in a 3-0 victory over Romania on Tuesday evening.

The Netherlands were just one goal to the good before Van de Ven’s introduction, with a late Donyell Malen brace putting the game beyond doubt.

Van de Ven took to Instagram after the game and expressed his delight at securing a spot in the quarter-finals.

And Joshua Zirkzee, a player who Tottenham have scouted in recent months, was quick to reply to his international teammate.

Joshua Zirkzee’s stats

The Bologna striker is attracting plenty of interest across Europe, particularly in the Premier League, with Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool all keen.

A £34 million release clause in his contract makes him an intriguing option for Spurs.

Zirkzee is yet to play a single minute at the Euros for Holland but posted impressive numbers in Italy last term. The 23-year-old had a hand in 19 goals in 27 appearances for Bologna.
