Report: There is a suggestion West Ham are willing to meet asking price for 'talented' Man City player

West Ham could be about to sign a Manchester City player this summer transfer window, according to a recent report.

The Hammers are moving along nicely this summer having already brought in Brazilian winger Luis Guilherme.

Julen Lopetegui is clearly eager to reshape the squad to align with his possession-based brand of football and is now eyeing a Manchester City player.

In fact, there’s a suggestion they’re willing to pay City’s asking price.

West Ham want to sign Manchester City defender Sergio Gomez

West Ham are keen on signing Manchester City left-back Sergio Gomez and according to Mundo Deportivo, they could be willing to meet his £12.7m asking price.

The Spanish outlet says West Ham, Roma, AC Milan and Real Betis are all interested in landing his signature this summer and two of those clubs are ready to meet his price tag.

The Hammers could be one of them so at this stage, it is a waiting game to see if City receive an offer for the ‘talented’ defender, as per Manchester Evening News.

It’s thought that Gomez favours a move to Real Sociedad but the La Liga outfit aren’t in a rush to accelerate a move, leaving the door open for Lopetegui’s side.

West Ham need to convince Sergio Gomez

Whilst there’s been no indication that Gomez would turn down a move to West Ham, it certainly seems as though he needs to be convinced.

With The Hammers missing out on European football, they’re naturally less of an attractive proposition than in years gone by.

Lopetegui will be hopeful he can convince his compatriot to join and become a key man in his possesion-based approach.

Gomez could be Emerson Palmieri’s replacement, who could be leaving for Italy.
