'He is too big': Shota Arveladze wowed by Euro 2024 player Liverpool have approached this summer

Liverpool are set to be busy on the transfer front this summer as Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes look to revamp the Reds squad.

The Anfield outfit has begun a new era, with Arne Slot taking over from Jurgen Klopp as the manager of the Premier League giants.

Edwards and Hughes will be eager to give the new Liverpool boss all the tools he needs to hit the ground running at Anfield.

Liverpool have been linked with plenty of top players in recent weeks, including one who recently helped his country reach the Euro 2024 knock-out stages.

Shota Arveladze hails Khvicha Kvaratskhelia amid Liverpool links

The player in question is Napoli and Georgia forward Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who the Reds have recently approached, according to TBR Football sources.

Kvaratskhelia, who won the Serie A title with Napoli just over a year ago, helped Georgia reach Euro 2024 after beating Greece on penalties in their March playoff.

The 23-year-old then went one better, helping his nation reach the last 16 of the tournament by picking up four points to finish as one of the best third-placed sides.

Although Spain beat Georgia in the knockouts, the tournament debutants exited with their heads held high, and even gave La Roja a scare by forcing an own goal for the opener.

Georgia legend Shota Arveladze has now told Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE about what makes the Anfield target so special.

“I think, to play the way he plays in this age, it’s not about the dribbling or speed,” said the former Ajax and Rangers icon.

“The way he looks, the way he touches, the way he sees the game, he is too big for me.

“He can just grow and grow and it depends where you are going to go in the next step probably.

“I hardly see in this age someone playing like a really, really experienced player of age of 28, 29 already seen long in football pages.

“These young (players), they always make an extra touch, extra this, but I hardly see that in his game.”

Napoli do not want to sell Kvaratskhelia

Kvaratskhelia has exploded onto the scene over the past few years, making a name for himself as one of football’s rising stars and shining for both Napoli and Georgia.

Mamuka Jugeli, the player’s agent, recently said his client would ideally like to leave Naples ahead of the new season.

However, Napoli are believed to have told Liverpool – plus the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City – that Kvaratskhelia is going nowhere this summer.

With that in mind, it remains to be seen just how far this transfer saga can do, but as things stand, it could be a very difficult move.
