  • EXCLUSIVE from Graeme Bailey

TBR Football understands that Tottenham are set to send Joe Rodon to Leeds as part of their agreement for Archie Gray.

Spurs jumped on the Gray deal after Brentford’s failure to finalise terms and now Spurs have made their move.

Gray has undergone the first part of his medical and now following talks between the clubs – Leeds have managed to secure a deal for Rodon – who spent last season on loan at Elland Road.

Leeds United set to sign Joe Rodon

Tottenham defender Rodon enjoyed a successful season-long loan spell at Elland Road last season but after missing out on a Premier League return, it looked unlikely that he’d be heading back.

His form gathered interest from newly promoted Leicester City and Ipswich Town, who launched a bid for his services in the last 24 hours.

But, with Gray now set to join Spurs, Leeds have managed to wangle Rodon as part of the deal, though, it has not yet been confirmed if it’s a loan or a permanent.

The North Londoners – who signed the Wales international for £15m in 2020 – extended his deal to 2026 last month.

Leeds United have done well in tough circumstances

Losing Gray will be a real blow for the West Yorkshire club but it seems they needed to sell an asset to comply with Profit and Sustainability rules.

In tough circumstances, they’ve done well to negotiate the reported £35-40m fee plus Rodon – which is an unprecedented deal for a Championship side.

The return of Rodon will give supporters great belief that they can bounce back to the top flight next term under the stewardship of Daniel Farke, who was clearly desperate to resign the 26-year-old.

A deal is likely to be announced early this week after Gray completed the first part of his medical on Sunday.
