'An obvious one': Agent isn't ruling out £102m player joining Chelsea this summer

One football agent thinks Chelsea could end up completing one of the biggest deals of the summer.

However, he has claimed that Chelsea will have to sell players before getting it over the line.

The Blues have already been busy during this transfer window, recently confirming the signing of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Leicester City.

The midfielder joins Marc Guiu, Omari Kellyman and Tosin Adarabioyo at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea have also snapped up Estevao Willian from Palmeiras, but he will not be able to link-up with the team until next year when he turns 18.

The next thing on Chelsea’s agenda could be a top centre-forward.

Chelsea could have to sell players before landing big-name striker

While Chelsea have signed Guiu, football agent Jon Smith is not ruling out the Blues bringing in another No.9 this summer.

He thinks Napoli’s Victor Osimhen joining Chelsea is quite an “obvious” move but says the club will have to sell players first.

Speaking about Osimhen, as well as Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz, in his column for CaughtOffside, Smith said: “There are certain players that I think are going to move this summer, with Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz being one. I can’t see much beyond Bayern [Munich] as far as he’s concerned, because they need to do something big and he will be a great pleaser for the crowd in Munich.

“I’m also looking at Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, which is an obvious one to Chelsea, but, as we’ve talked about previously, the way it’s set up at the moment means that the Blues will have to sell before they can buy.”

Victor Osimhen logical but unlikely

Osimhen to Chelsea does seem like quite an obvious move. After finishing outside of the top four last season and relying heavily on Nicolas Jackson, the Blues probably do need a top striker like Osimhen.

However, his price tag is a bit of a problem.

The release clause in his contract is thought to be set at €120m (£101.6m).

It has also been claimed that while Chelsea do want to sign a No.9, they do not want to hamper Jackson’s development. Bringing in Osimhen would surely do that.

Considering all of the above, then, albeit not impossible, it seems unlikely that Chelsea will sign Osimhen this summer.
