Prince William's sad photo while visiting Kate Middleton in hospital makes sense now

Prince William played the doting husband when Kate Middleton underwent planned abdominal surgery in hospital earlier this year. Now, it’s been reported there was a reason behind the sad photo of the husband driving alone, and it revolved around the Wales’ top priority – their children.

At the beginning of the year, Buckingham Palace announced Kate Middleton was to undergo abdominal surgery at The London Clinic, the same day they told the world King Charles was also set to have a procedure for an enlarged prostate. The royals were receiving treatment at the same time, although, we only saw the monarch leave the facility, as it’s believed Kate used Meghan Markle tactics to leave out the back door unnoticed. The 42-year-old has stayed away from the limelight as she recovers, revealing weeks later, following tests, she has a form of cancer. While the Princess of Wales receives preventative treatment for a type of cancer, she has been resting at home. Now, news behind the photo of Prince William visiting his wife Kate while she was in hospital has a new and heartbreaking context.

On January 18, the Prince of Wales visited Catherine at The London Clinic, with Kensington Palace explaining she was ‘doing well’ as she recovered.

She spent a few nights in the facility following the planned abdominal surgery at the private hospital.

Aside from the heir to the throne visiting, Queen Consort Camilla was also spotted traveling to be at her husband’s bedside without fail.

The openness of the royals’ hospital procedures was welcomed by commentators and fans worldwide, as it was greater than years before, where some elements of the monarchy’s private life were kept hush-hush.

In one snap, we see Prince William driving away from the back entrance of the hospital visiting Kate Middleton, but the heir and his security were the only people in the car.

The couple’s children, Prince George, Louis and Princess Charlotte, did not visit their mom while she spent weeks recovering in the clinic.

One friend close to the Wales’ said Wills was right there with her but, they simply didn’t want their children to see her like that.

They said: “The princess has William by her side, they are an incredibly strong team, and they will get through this. Their children are their absolute focus.”

They wanted the kids to have a ‘normal life’

To ensure their lives were not disrupted, Kate called them every day, and the children kept up with their usual activities, like George playing rugby.

“Things were so normal at home that George was playing a rugby match against another school while Kate was hospitalized,” another friend claimed.

Royal commentator Daniela Elser has said: “When Kate was in the hospital, she did not want her children to see her in a gown and hooked up to monitors and tubes, so only William visited, and she made do with video calls home every day.”

Elser adds: “At home, normality prevails, and publicly too. Birthdays have been marked with official photographs taken by the princess (Louis turned six in April and Charlotte nine in May) while William and Kate marked their 13th wedding anniversary on April 29 with the release of a previously unseen black-and-white photograph.”

Although Kate was recovering, all areas of their life that could remain normal, did. Every year the Wales’ will release photos of their children for royal fans and mark their anniversary in a special way.

Kate was recently seen attending Trooping the Colour, to celebrate the King’s second birthday. She announced she would be making an appearance the day before and admitted, while she’s on the mend, she has her good and bad days.

But one thing is clear, her children will always be at the forefront of her mind.
