‘Honestly’: Journalist says Tottenham aren’t going to sign £40m player this summer

Tottenham have had a number of long-term transfer targets on their radar.

The likes of Santiago Gimenez and Alessandro Bastoni have been on Spurs’ radar for the longest time, while Conor Gallagher is another player Tottenham have seemingly been looking at for ages.

Spurs made a deadline day bid for Gallagher last summer, while this was a long-running story beat in the January transfer window.

With the transfer window back open, Gallagher is being linked to Spurs once again, but according to Dean Jones, speaking on the Ranks FC Ultras Podcast, Gallagher won’t be signing for Tottenham this summer.

Conor Gallagher won’t be signing for Tottenham

Jones shared what he knows about the £40m player.

“I honestly really do think that Conor Gallagher is going to stay at Chelsea. Tottenham aren’t going to sign him at this point. Newcastle aren’t going to get him, he doesn’t want to go up there. Family ties are very important to him and I can believe that he would be reluctant to relocate to the Midlands too,” Jones said.

Gallagher needs to make a decision

Conor Gallagher won’t be joining Tottenham this summer, but a decision does need to be made on his future at some point.

Indeed, while Jones says he thinks Gallagher will stay at Chelsea this summer, that doesn’t change the fact that his contract is up next year and he’s at a cross-roads in his career.

As of yet, Chelsea haven’t been forthcoming in terms of offering the player a new deal, and he does need to figure out what he’s going to do as that summer of 2025 will come around very quickly.

Gallagher may not want to leave Chelsea this summer, but if the Blues decide they want to cash-in, he may not have much say on the matter.

Gallagher’s future at Stamford Bridge is still very much up in the air.
