Supporting Ukraine will be the "most urgent task" during the NATO summit which will be held next week in the United States, according to NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
“I expect heads of state and government will agree a substantial package for Ukraine,” said Stoltenberg.
He also added that NATO will take over the coordination and provision of the majority of international security assistance, with a command led by a three-star general and several hundred personnel working at NATO headquarters in Germany and at logistical hubs in the eastern part of the Alliance.
The Secretary General noted that allies will agree the financial support for Ukraine, and he also expects more immediate military support for Ukraine, especially more
bilateral security agreements and work on enhanced military interoperability.
Stoltenberg added that all these elements constitute a "bridge to NATO membership".
“Ukraine is moving closer to NATO," he emphasized.

NATO summit
The NATO summit will take place in Washington, DC, on July 9-11.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine would sign another security agreement during the NATO summit.
RBC-Ukraine reported earlier that Ukrainians assessed the usefulness of security agreements signed with different countries.
