Ange Postecoglou set to hand ‘very talented’ Tottenham academy product first team call-up

Tottenham Hotspur have made a steady start to this summer’s transfer market with two signings already completed.

Archie Gray marks the only permanent signing made by Tottenham with Timo Werner returning on another loan deal from RB Leipzig.

Daniel Levy has been very active when it comes to offloading players from Hotspur Way, though, with players like Tanguy Ndombele marking noteworthy exits from the club.

Pre-season starts this weekend with the players reporting for duty on Saturday where they will be put through their paces ahead of the new campaign.

But Postecoglou will not have all of his players back with a number of players still away on international duty and a handful recovering from their extended seasons.

Ange Postecoglou set to trust talented youngster this summer

Opportunities were few and far between for Tottenham’s youngsters last season with Postecoglou looking to find his best XI.

In his first season at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the Australian provided Jamie Donley with a handful of opportunities after impressing in the U21 side.

Mikey Moore was also handed some game time towards the back end of the campaign as he continued to shine in the club’s academy.

But the impressive displays from the U21s side has a number of players knocking on the Australian’s door.

According to Alasdair Gold, Postecoglou is set to provide Tyrese Hall with some minutes in the first team.

Hall – who was hailed ‘very talented‘ by journalist Rob Guest – also shone in the recent friendly against Newcastle United which provided Spurs fans with their best view of the 18-year-old yet.

However, decisions are going to have to be made on other members of Wayne Burnett’s talented U21 side following their title-winning campaign.

Spurs are going into the new campaign with Europa League football to look forward to and with that will provide a much busier fixture list.

Which young players could leave Tottenham this summer?

After his excellent 2023/24 campaign, Donley is believed to be receiving interest from a number of Championship sides this summer.

Relegated side Luton Town are believed to be one of those clubs who would be keen to bring in the youngster on loan.

And the report from Gold also shares interest from the Championship in striker Will Lankshear.

These are two players who seriously impressed last season and look ready to take their chances in the men’s game before looking to make an impact in Postecoglou’s side.
