Conor Gallagher shares what Cole Palmer has already told him about new Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca

The constant rollercoaster at Chelsea has continued with yet another managerial change.

Enzo Maresca, the new Blues head coach, is the latest man to sit in the dugout at Stamford Bridge.

He excelled in guiding Leicester City to promotion from the Championship as title winners last season, but there’s no doubt this is his biggest job in football to date by a distance.

Maresca won’t be completely starting from scratch because he knows a few faces in the Chelsea squad.

Of course, he worked with Blues signing Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall at Leicester City last season. The Italian also previously coached Cole Palmer and Romeo Lavia in Manchester City’s academy.

Conor Gallagher shares what Cole Palmer has told him about Enzo Maresca

Chelsea players Conor Gallagher and Cole Palmer are currently away with England at Euro 2024, but they’ll surely have one eye on what’s happening back at the Bridge.

Palmer has an insight into Maresca’s management style after working under him in Man City’s academy.

When asked what Palmer has told him about Maresca, Gallagher said in an interview with talkSPORT: “Cole’s only told me good things.

“He’s really excited about the new manager and so am I.

“He’s obviously had a great season at Leicester last season.

“Me and everyone at Chelsea are really excited to work with him.”

Predicting Chelsea’s most important player next season

The obvious selection to go with as Chelsea’s star man in the 2024/25 campaign is Palmer.

It’s a big help that the attacker knows Maresca well. On top of that, he was head and shoulders above any of his teammates last season at Stamford Bridge in terms of the level of performances.

If we were looking for a wildcard pick, Moises Caicedo is that individual.

There’s no doubt that the all-action central midfielder became more comfortable in a Chelsea shirt as last season progressed.

We think he could do a sensational job as a box-to-box midfielder next year, emulating what Wilfred Ndidi did at Leicester last season.
