Rangers announce signing of Hamza Igamane as club explains transfer

Rangers have announced their latest signing with striker Hamza Ingamane joining from Morrocan outfit FAR.

The 21-year old will add much needed depth to the forward line in support of Danilo and Cyriel Dessers, however, he will be hoping to repeat the feat of Alfredo Morelos and dislodge his more senior teammates.

Like El Bufalo, Hamza Ingamane is on an upwards trajectory and becomes Rangers fifth new summer signing of 2024.

Rangers sign Hamza Igamane to add to new look squad

There is a very clear pattern to the new arrivals.

All are under 22-years old and have limited senior experience, but have also shown that they have the potential to contribute immediately to Philippe Clement’s starting XI.

There might be fears about a lack of senior signings, however, most of those that have arrived have worn the captain’s armband at club or representative level.

Leaders don’t have to have grey hairs.

A statement from FAR Rabat suggests that Rangers have been lucky to get Igamane:

“Hamza has signed a contract with Rangers for five seasons, which amounts to £1.75m plus extra clauses.

“The reason we have allowed him to make the transfer is we recognise the goal of this talented player was to go to Europe and we have allowed him the opportunity.

“It also helps the image of our club and of Morrocan football.

“But Hamza will be the only player who will leave the club this summer.

“We have received interest and offers from other European clubs this summer.

“However, we feel it is important to keep the spine of the team to give us the best possible chance of winning titles this season.”

Igamane will be hoping for a fast start

For some reason, in recent years, new Rangers strikers seem to take an age to settle into life at Ibrox.

The exception since Steven Gerrard arrived being Jermain Defoe, who scored on his debut and left with an impressive goals per minute ratio.

If Igamane can produce something similar he will be an instant fans’ favourite but will have to wait his turn given the fees paid for Danilo and Dessers, if the latter doesn’t leave that is.

Arriving at the beginning of the transfer window gives the Moroccan a great chance of settling ahead of the Champions Leagye qualifiers and his presence will be a huge boost given how often Clement had to make do with one forward last season.

Can he be the next Morelos?

Welcome to Rangers, Hamza Igamane!
