Gers dealt major blow in ‘expected’ transfer pursuit as familiar Dutchman swoops in - report

Yusuf Kabadayi has been prominently linked with a move to Rangers this summer.

The Bayern Munich talent looks set to be on the move from the Allianz Arena after a season on loan at FC Schalke.

The question is, where the does the 20-year-old winger see his future?

Rangers have had previous dealings with Bayern Munich of course – everyone benefitting from the Malik Tillman scenario in the end – and could be viewed as a suitable option on some kind of creative deal.

Plenty even believe that Yusuf Kabadayi is Rangers-bound this summer as Philippe Clement reshapes his Ibrox squad.

But now a fresh report in Turkey is claiming that far from be closing in on a move to Ibrox, Kabadayi is confusingly close to moving elsewhere.

Kabadayi agrees deal ‘in principle’

German youth international Yusuf Kabadayi can trace his roots back to Turkey and it’s in his ancestral homeland where these latest links originate.

Specifically, Turkish outlet Super Haber are claiming that a move to Istanbul club Besiktas has been agreed ‘in principle’.

Whilst the reporters from Turkey aren’t always famous for their accuracy, it’s not the first time Kabadayi has been linked with the club.

Now managed by former Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst, there were reports earlier in June that the Dutchman had pipped his former side to the winger’s signature.

But with these claims shot down by the press in Scotland, Rangers had been ‘expected’ to complete a deal for Kabadayi despite those lingering Turkish links.

These latest claims have furthered the confusion around the winger as Rangers fans nervously await the outcome of the pursuit.

Rangers hunting experienced signings

Yusuf Kabadayi certainly fits the Nils Koppen Rangers transfer mould.

Young and with plenty of room to develop, if Rangers are to complete a deal for the winger Kabadayi would follow a string of talented youngsters in joining the Gers this summer.

So far Rangers have completed deals to add Jefte (20), Clinton Nsiala (20), Connor Barron (21), Mohamed Diomande (22) and Oscar Cortes (20) to the club’s squad.

With Hamza Igamane (21) also reportedly inbound, Liam Kelly (28) stands as the only senior addition as things stand.

Whilst the situation surrounding Yusuf Kabadayi remains unclear, Philippe Clement has claimed that experience is now top of his summer wish list.

Rangers have lost a host of experienced first-teamers over the summer with the Belgian admitting ‘there will also be experience coming into the building’.
