Fortnite: DreamHack Cash Cup Extra Returns In July — Format, Dates, Prize Pool & More

DreamHack returns this month with another round of Cash Cup Extra tournaments for competitive Fortnite players. The series debuted in Season 6 to a positive response across the community. Separate from the DreamHack Opens competition, the Cash Cup Extra took results from each weekly Trio Cash Cup and offered the top 132 teams a chance to win more cash. It was a huge hit, and several of the best NA East and European squads earned victories.

Ten days stand between these players and an impressive weekly prize pool. Today, we’ll look at the entire Cash Cup Extra, and all of the details you should know before the best European and NA East trios square off.

Cash Cup Extra Format

The Cash Cup Extra opens its doors to the top-performing trios in the weekly Trio Cash Cup tournaments. To qualify, teams in the NA East and European server regions must finish inside the top-132. Teams managing to conquer that task will automatically unlock the Cash Cup Extra competition later in the week.

Here’s a complete look at the tournament format that participants should know:

  • Top 132 trios from each weekly Trio Cash Cup qualify for the Cash Cup Extra
  • Three-hour session
  • A maximum of ten possible matches

Tournament Schedule

  • July 14: Cash Cup Extra #4 (Qualifiers from July 12 Trio Cash Cup)
    NA East: 6 PM ET to 9 PM ET
    Europe: 4 PM GMT to 7 PM GMT
  • July 21: Cash Cup Extra #5 (Qualifiers from July 19 Trio Cash Cup)
    NA East: 6 PM ET to 9 PM ET
    Europe: 4 PM GMT to 7 PM GMT
  • August 25: Cash Cup Extra #6 (Qualifiers from August 23 Trio Cash Cup)
    NA East: 6 PM ET to 9 PM ET
    Europe: 4 PM GMT to 7 PM GMT

Scoring System

The scoring system is much different from other trio tournaments. While placement points remain similar, teams will earn six points per elimination, making them infinitely more valuable. You can fully expect teams to w-key others to capitalize.

  • Victory Royale: 55 points
  • 2nd: 49 points
  • 3rd: 46 points
  • 4th: 43 points
  • 5th: 40 points
  • 6th: 37 points

  • 11th: 27 points
  • 12th: 25 points
  • 13th: 23 points

Cash Cup Extra Prize Pool Breakdown

Like last season, DreamHack offers another $34.5K prize pool spread across two regions and three weekly tournaments. The winners will collect $2.1K USD each and those inside the top-20 walk away with at least $600 USD per team.

Here is the complete prize pool distribution:

Europe & NA East

  • 1st: $2,100 ($700 per player)
  • 2nd: $1,800 ($600 per player)
  • 3rd: $1,500 ($500 per player)
  • 4th: $1,200 ($400 per player)
  • 5th: $900 ($300 per player)
  • 6th-10th: $750 ($250 per player)
  • 11th-20th: $600 ($200 per player)

How to Enter

Entrance requires teams to switch their in-game server regions to Europe and NA East during the correct Trio Cash Cup timeframe. Once there, they must earn a high enough score to place them inside the top-132. Finally, they’ll unlock the Cash Cup Extra competition in the “Compete” tab.
