Fortnite: DreamHack Cash Cup Extra #5 Recap & Results

ESTNN recaps the second trio Cash Cup Extra tournament of Fortnite Chapter 2 - Season 7.

The trio competition in Fortnite Chapter 2 - Season 7 is heating up ahead of the Fortnite Champion Series. Two weeks have passed since the first Trio Cash Cup of the season, and the cream of the crop is starting to rise. DreamHack’s first Cash Cup Extra of the season saw a dark horse European team outlast some of the region’s best, while in NA East, the relatively new trio of Saf, Liquid STRETCH and BBG Khanada found themselves atop the leaderboard. The Cash Cup Extra format encourages eliminations, so there’s no shortage of fireworks when the top 132 in Europe and NA East go head-to-head.

DreamHack’s second Cash Cup Extra just concluded. On the heels of another historic Cash Cup victory by two former champion trios, the top 132 from this past Monday’s Trio Cash Cup once again dueled for a share of over $34K USD. Could Hen’s trio and Reverse2k’s trio defend their turf? Let’s find out as ESTNN breaks down the results from both regions.

Europe

The big dogs came to play in Europe, but none could overcome the firepower of GUILD Anas, GUILD Flikk and GAMMA Th0masHD. Last season’s fourth-place Fortnite Champion Series (FNCS) finishers accumulated a massive 70 eliminations across nine matches to go along with two Victory Royales. Their two wins occurred back-to-back to open the Cash Cup Extra, and their eliminations and consistent placements helped them achieve victory. They were the only team to surpass 700 points, and it was a rightfully earned tournament win.

Three-time FNCS Finalists Falcon Andilex, Vitality Snayzy and xsweeze.mces followed up their runner-up finish in last week’s NA East Cash Cup Extra with another on their own turf. Despite not earning a Victory Royale, the three French players amassed 697 points and an impressive 68 eliminations. They closed the event with a 14-elimination, second-place finish, bringing them within striking distance of the eventual winners. Andilex, Snayzy and xsweeze look strong this season.

The always consistent trio of Falcon Refsgaard, NVD Endretta and 100T MrSavage secured another exceptional result after nine matches. They matched Th0masHD’s team with two Victory Royales but fell slightly in the elimination department. The FNCS Season 6 runners-up are in a prime position to challenge for the Axe of Champions.

NA East

The trending trio of LG Jamper, Threats and Rise earned a significant breakthrough win in the NA East region. Amongst some of Europe and North America’s titans, these three weathered the storm and played a consistent round of Fortnite. Across just seven matches—Jamper, Threats and Rise put up 59 eliminations and one Victory Royale en route to 661 points. They did not finish outside of the top ten in any of their matches, managing an average placement of 4.00. Their efforts yielded $2.1K USD to the trio and confidence to go toe-to-toe with the best.

A reasonably new trio — BBG Kreo, XTRA Illest and Tragix — led the field in eliminations and finished in second place. Their performance in eight matches included two Victory Royales, 60 eliminations and 657 points. While this is one of their only tournaments to date, the results are encouraging, but we’ll have to see if it will translate to a scoring system that rewards more points for placement than eliminations.

Monday’s Trio Cash Cup winners and the two-time FNCS Champs rounded out the top-three with yet another solid showing. The ENDL8SS trio of Reverse2k, Mero and Deyy put together three double-elimination matches but ultimately fell short down the stretch. A 15-elimination win in their seventh match put them in striking distance of first. Unfortunately, three sub-par games coming home left them in third place. After a brief split, these three are back on top.
