Sadly, COVID is restricting fans from attending the LCS Finals yet again.
Today, an unfortunate update was provided from LoL Esports, saying that the planned LCS Championships with live viewers set for the Prudential Center in New Jersey have been canceled. Instead, the LCS Championships will take place in the LCS studio in Los Angeles. Now, there will be no live spectators for the Championship climax.
This is disappointing news for many. After over a year with no live events, there were a ton of fans excited to see the LCS in-person again. In fact, the Prudential Center was going to be a sold-out event. However, due to the surge of COVID cases in the United States, the LCS has decided the risk isn't worth the reward.
"Given the current state of affairs, we cannot in good conscience conduct a massive fan event at this time. After much consideration, it is with extreme disappointment that we’ve elected to relocate the LCS Championship event from the Prudential Center to the LCS Arena."
As always, the health of the fans and players is the utmost concern for the LCS. Keeping the NA representatives happy and healthy for Worlds is of course important. Hopefully, the situation will be better for the World Championships this year to deliver the electric environment fans around the world have been missing.
Those who purchased tickets for the LCS Championships at the Prudential Center should expect refunds in the near future. According to the update, they should share more details about refunds soon.
