Governor Andrew Cuomo Slammed For Reportedly Leaving Dog Behind After Fleeing Executive Mansion

After Governor Andrew Cuomo resigned following the bombshell reports he “sexually harassed several women,” word is spreading that he also tried to give his dog away during his final days in office.

The disgraced politician packed up his bags from the Executive Mansion in Albany, where he reportedly left the 3-year-old Siberian mix pooch behind as he left to stay with one of his sisters in Westchester County last week, theAlbany Times Union reported, citing two police sources.

Cuomo asked a mansion staffer to take Captain, but the dog — who reportedly has a history of biting people — was returned to the mansion a few days later.

Following the news of the poor pooch being left behind, users flocked to social media to roast the outgoing Governor.

“So gross. So unsurprising,” a user tweeted, while another wrote: “Wow a year ago I thought of him as an exceptional politician and human being. Abandoning a dog is a new low and an exclamation point on his fall from grace. What a piece of work. Poor doggie was just used as a prop.”

A third lamented: “Cuomo abandoning the only likeable thing about his character — that dog is so cute!! — is just too on-the-nose.”

The controversial politician's reign as Governor of New York will come to an end at midnight, when incoming Governor Kathy Hochul — who will be the state’s first female governor — will be sworn in on Tuesday, August 24.

Cuomo announced on Tuesday, August 10, that he was “stepping aside” after a slew of sexual harassment claims. During a press conference, he half-heartedly apologized for his despicable actions, while maintaining the allegations were untrue.

“In my mind, I've never crossed a line with anyone, but I didn't realize the extent to which the line has been redrawn,” he stated, while addressing the damning accusations lodged against him. “There are generational and cultural shifts that I just didn't fully appreciate, and I should have. No excuses.”
