FormaL Retires From Competetive Call of Duty

FormaL’s 11 year competitive career comes to an end.

Since his transition from Halo to Call of Duty almost 11 years ago, Matthew "FormaL" Piper has been one of the greatest players in the game. Not only his ability, but his personality has seen him reach the top, most commonly under the wing of OpTic Gaming.

In 2017, FormaL and his OpTic squad lifted the Call of Duty World Championship trophy, and never looked back. However, today FormaL announced his retirement from competitive play, seeing just two of the OpTic dynasty roster remain.

In a Twitlonger, FormaL announced his retirement from the game. He thanked the fans for their exceptional support and noted that he’ll be moving to a role more focused on content.

He says that while it will be an “exciting and frightening journey,” he hopes to connect with his fans more through content. Finally, he says, “this isn’t a goodbye, it’s just a step forward to having more fun with video games without the stress of competing."
