Tennessee Man Cuts Off His Penis & Tosses It Out The Window During Police Chase, Reportedly Claims He Had To 'Save The World'

A Tennessee man took being chased by the police to the extreme!

Tyson Gilbert reportedly cut off his penis and tossed it out the window of his Honda Accord while fleeing officers on Wednesday.

The bizarre chase began when police found his vehicle parked blocking traffic on Highway 70 in Dowelltown, Tenn. Gilbert reportedly took off after officers flashed their lights at him and then the chase was on.

“When I pulled up behind him and turned my lights on he took off and refused to stop. He was all over the road the whole time,” Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Bobby Johnson told local radio station WJLE.

After pursuing the man across two counties, he turned onto a side road and the officers caught a glimpse at his injuries. “He turned off on Old Liberty Road and came to a stop. He opened his door,” he continued. “He was naked and covered in blood. He then shut his door and kept driving.”

“The Alexandria Police Department spiked him (put down spike strips) on Highway 70 as he was going through Alexandria. He kept traveling westbound into Wilson County. The THP spiked him in Watertown but he continued westbound,” Trooper Johnson said, adding: “We finally were able to box him in and got him stopped on Highway 70 right before the Interstate at I-40 and took him in custody. He was then transported to Vanderbilt Hospital. “

Gilbert said he severed his own penis after he heard voices coming from the car radio instructing him to do so. He claimed the voices told him he needed to commit the act in order to “save the world.”

The 39-year-old man — who has had multiple run-ins with the law — was taken to the nearby hospital to seek treatment. It is unclear if doctors were able to reattach his appendage.
