As OK! previously reported, a statement posted on the official Instagram account for The Wendy Williams Show announced on Thursday, September 30, that the TV personality would “not be returning with new shows on October 4”, as previously planned.

"She has been and continues to be under a doctor's care and is still not ready to return to work. We plan to return with new shows on October 18,” continued the announcement. "Her breakthrough Covid case is no longer an issue and she has tested negative, but she is still dealing with some ongoing medical issues."

However, a source tells The Sun the talk show host “very well could call in sick the night before” she is set to return.

The statement echoed a previous one shared by the official Wendy Williams Show Instagram account on September 9, which revealed that the show's star would be taking a break from promoting season 13 as Williams dealt with "ongoing health issues" and underwent "further evaluations".

Days later, it was announced that Williams had tested positive for coronavirus.

That wasn’t the worst of it, however: The TV personality was also hospitalized — where she was expected to stay "for weeks" — due to mental health issues.

As Williams' personal problems continue to affect production on her daytime talk show, members of her staff are beginning to revolt. An insider previously told The Sun that those in Williams' inner circle are "enablers" because "they don't want to lose their job" and were more than aware that she was struggling because they "smelled the liquor."

"Wendy drinks every day and the only time she was sober was when she was at the sober house," the insider added. (Williams previously lived in a sober living house after she filed for divorce from Kevin Hunter, who she shares Kevin Jr., in 2019.)

It seems as though the higher-ups are beginning to lose their patience, too. “I think the network bosses had a strong talk with her," a source told The Sun. "She has to get it together; she is messing with millions in revenue”.

Meanwhile, another source said Williams "could very well walk away" when it comes to the 14th season of The Wendy Williams Show: "She's over it."
