Yesterday, Chevrolet Performance asked the world if it could “handle more power.” Being the king of crate engines, Chevy is known to show off a new motor at just about every SEMA Show, and this year is no different. But with the Chevrolet Performance Catalog recently dropping its most powerful engine – the 755 horsepower LT5 – more power is exactly what needs to be done. For the people! Perhaps it’s the power and torque figures of the new 9.3L 572 Big Block V8 in the 2022 COPO Camaro finally rated by the NHRA. Indeed, that would likely be more power.
Chevrolet Performance: The Latest Crate Engine News
While some adjustments have been made to the Chevrolet Performance crate engine portfolio, there have been a few new product announcements. Such as the 7.0L LS427/570 crate engine that punches out 570 horsepower, and 540 lb-ft of torque.
This was followed by the massive 572 Big Block V8 in the 2022 Chevrolet COPO Camaro that was announced over the summer.

Chevrolet will once again be occupying its massive floorspace at the Las Vegas Convention Center during the 2021 SEMA Show, happening Tuesday November 2, through Friday November 5. Anybody that’s ever been to the biggest automotive aftermarket trade show in the world knows that SEMA is four straight days of sensory overload, with tire-shredding performances outside the convention center, and sometimes the most bizarre builds one has ever laid eyes on inside. Most automotive media hate attending, so you know it’s good.
Chevrolet will officially be bringing “over a dozen” cars to the SEMA show, expected to be highlighted by the 2023 Corvette Z06, the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado ZR2, 2022 COPO Camaro, and a few electrified surprises.

Chevrolet will be handing out several design awards during the 2021 SEMA Show, and the trophy is truly something to behold. This year’s design awards consist of the Chevy SEMA Car of the Year, Chevy SEMA Truck of the Year, Innovative Use of Technology, and Designer’s Choice. All of these awards will be chosen by a panel of Chevrolet Designers present at the event.
In order for builders to meet the requirements, their build must have the bowtie on the front, a gasoline, diesel or GM EV system and in-programs photos/renders to Chevrolet along with finished build pics. It is noted that non-competitive EV systems can be used as well.
Along with the requirements above, you must also register with Chevy at www.ChevySEMA.com by October 22 to be in the running for one of the awards.
