2022 GMC SIERRA AT4X WILL TRAVERSE THE TRAILS WITH HEATED MASSAGING SEATS

As promised, the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4X has entered the chat. And while it’s mechanically identical to the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado ZR2, that doesn’t tell the whole story. There’s some distinct content found on the first-ever Sierra AT4X that you simply can’t get on the ZR2. And we’ll get to that in a minute. But first, let’s get into what makes this new trim level a step above the standard 2022 GMC Sierra AT4. And it has everything to do with the following standard equipment:

GMC didn’t hold back on the cabin of the 2022 Sierra 1500 AT4X. Despite its rugged intentions, the interior of the AT4X is extremely luxury-forward, completely draped in full-grain leather, ash wood trim, a microsuede headliner, a 15-inch heads-up display, a 12-speaker Bose audio system, and unique badge work. The front seats also have a message function.

Technology is also a centerpoint here. an all-new and customizable 13.4-inch-diagonal horizontal touchscreen, a 12.3-inch-diagonal configurable instrument cluster and a 15-inch color Heads Up Display make up more than 40 diagonal inches of visual displays. We’d also like to take this time to kindly ask automakers to stop measuring things diagonally. It’s like listening to the old fishermen exaggerating their catch. Wow! So big!

Like the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado and pioneered by the GMC Hummer EV, the 2022 Sierra 1500 comes with Google built-in compatibility, which is actually standard on all trims except the baseline Pro, with three years of service included with AT4 and Denali trims. With it, many of a user’s favorite phone features are available in the vehicle through the infotainment system, including Google Maps, Google Assistant and Google Play. With Google Assistant, drivers can use their voice to get directions, play their favorite podcasts, control vehicle functions and more, allowing drivers to keep their hands on the wheel and eyes on the road.

Google built-in is compatible with both Apple and Android devices, working with and complementing existing connectivity features such as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as available Amazon Alexa (standard on SLE trim and above).

In fact, there really isn’t much that GMC didn’t throw into the Sierra AT4X interior, even compared to the now-iconic Denali trim level. But with Ford and Ram bringing their A-game when it comes to interior design as well, GMC really had to put a stamp on it.

The rated payload capability for the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4X is 1,420 pounds, while its max tow rating is 8,900 pounds. The Sierra AT4X features an approach angle of 25.4 degrees, a breakover angle of 22.7 degrees, and a departure angle of 25.9 degrees. Ride height is listed as 10.7 inches.

2022 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4X Price:

This is going to sting a little. The 2022 GMC Sierra AT4X price starts at $74,995 USD, before any options. Meanwhile, the standard Sierra AT4 comes in at $60,995 USD. It comes exclusively in crew cab form with a short bed. And the interior is loaded to the brim. Remember, it has message seats, a home office’s worth of screens, and lots of detailed touches. But GMC is really testing the waters with this one. Then again, with the Sierra family likely to set a new sales record in the middle of the biggest supply chain crisis the auto industry has ever seen, perhaps it’s justifiable for them to do so.

Are people about to shell out more than Ram TRX money for a truck that has nearly 300 less horsepower? The world is about to find out.
