The time is nearly upon us. The 2023 Corvette Z06 supercar debuts tomorrow, October 26, and you can feel the Chevrolet Performance community jittering with anticipation. Lucky for them, there’s going to be plenty of ways to watch the C8 Z06 reveal. One can watch it from wherever, via the Chevy website. One could make your way to the nearest Chevy dealer that’s likely putting on a reveal party. Or, you could make a trip to LA, and witness the Z06 in person on display at the incredible Petersen automotive museum. Yet even as the storm is about to come to tomorrow, there remains no quiet. YouTuber Emelia Hartford, who was looped in by Chevrolet to help promote the new Z06, teased a video of the supercar’s engine at full pitch on a dynamometer, showcasing its 8,600 RPM redline from its LT6 V8 engine.
By the way, it spits fire.

2023 Corvette Z06 LT6 Engine: 8600 RPM Redline, 5.5L DOHC Flat Plane Crank V8
The 2023 Corvette Z06 will feature a unique engine that shares little to no parts with any other General Motors engine before it. The Chevy team decided that an off-the shelf supercharged LT4 or LT5 V8 simply wasn’t the right fit for the spirit of the C8 Z06, and as a result, the LT6 was born. This screaming V8 features a 5.5L displacement, a flat-plane crankshaft, eight cylinders, and is expected to push out north of 600 horsepower without the assistance of turbochargers or a supercharger.
The LT6 V8 engine has largely been validated on the racetrack up to this point, as a variant of it powers the IMSA championship-winning Corvette Racing C8.R race car. As a result, the architecture of the LT6 has undergone the grueling cycles of a 24 hour race, as seen at Daytona and Le Mans.
The new engine also saw racing action at Spa, Road America, Watkins Glen, Laguna Seca, Circuit of the Americas, Sebring, Mid Ohio, Lime Rock and Virginia International Raceway. The 2021 IMSA Calendar concludes with the 10 hour Petit Le Mans taking place at Road Atlanta in the state of Georgia on November 10, finishing two seasons of validating the LT6 engine architecture.
Now, this info on the 5.5L LT6 V8 engine won’t officially be disclosed until tomorrow, but being as we at MC&T disclosed more information on the C8 Z06 than any other publication out there up to this point (see: the tires, the aerodynamics, and the center-mount exhaust), we figured we might as well keep the trend going.
