The all-new 2023 C8 Corvette Z06 is going to make its official debut on October 26th. That hasn’t stopped car spies from trying to get photos and video footage of it wherever they can however they can. A video has surfaced thanks to YouTube channel Carspymedia showcasing the C8 Z06’s track ability and uncanny engine sounds as it takes multiple laps around the 12.9-mile Nürburgring Nordschleife during testing.
2023 Corvette Z06 Sighting Timeline
Supercar enthusiasts and Corvette owners alike are anxiously awaiting any and all details they can get their hands on regarding the 2023 Corvette Z06, as it has potential to be a true world-beater, for a fraction of the price. Earlier this month, we saw a picture of an un-camouflaged Red Mist Z06 in Pittsburgh being unloaded from a truck, seemingly getting ready for a commercial shoot. Shortly after, Chevrolet released an official uncamouflaged picture of their crown jewel to the public.
This video taken in early September by car spy Stefan Baldau shows a camouflaged C8 Z06 driving down a main road enroute to the track, where it accelerates through three gears, the majority of the video is the monster muscle car taking actual hot laps. The video itself stands at 3:29 in total length. This is the second video leaked of the Z06 taking laps, there was one released in August.
C8 Corvette Z06: What To Expect
The 600-plus-horsepower engine powering the 2023 Corvette Z06 is a 5.5L flat plane crank LT6 V8 that spins around 8,500 RPM, affixed to an 8-speed dual clutch automatic transmission, sending power exclusively to its massive rear wheels. The flat-plane V8 up to this point has been tested in the Corvette Racing C8.R, which has already set lap records, and won an IMSA championship.
As seen in the video, the 2023 Corvette Z06 with the Z07 package will come with radical aerodynamics to enhance stability and down force while moving around a track, while the tires are upgraded to a Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R radial, measuring 345-section for the rear set. Despite hearing the car grind across a portion of the carousel with its suspension compressed, handling appears superb, and we can’t wait to see if the new Z06 was able to break the seven-minute barrier around The Green Hell.
