There’s a reason the Ford Mustang continues to hold a significant share of the sportscar market overall, even as the nameplate creeps closer to its 60th birthday. Namely the vast number of upgrade parts available through the Ford Performance Accessory Catalog. This brings us to the M2 Motoring Mustang GT on display at the 2021 SEMA Show this week.
Ford Mustang GT With 750 HP By M2 Motoring: The Details
Built by longtime Ford collaborator M2 Motoring, this track-prepped apex eater started life as a Mustang GT equipped with the Performance Package and a 6-speed manual transmission.
If you recall, Ford deleted the Performance Pack Level 2 option for 2021–alongside the GT350 and Bullitt variants– in an effort to create some breathing space between the GT Performance Pack and the new Mustang Mach 1. Consider the M2 Mustang GT an effort to rectify that wrong.
The chassis capability was cranked up thanks to a host of parts picked out of the Ford Accessory Catalog. The front end benefits from a GT350R big brake upgrade kit, and adjustable camber/caster plates yanked from the Mach 1. All four corners of the M2 Motoring Mustang GT now sit on Ford Performance lowering springs, while the car rides on a square set of 305/30R19 Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3 tires which are wrapped around 19-inch wheels.
That steamroller square rubber setup is basically the same kit that was previously offered on the Performance Pack Level 2, short of the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 rubbers. We like.
But that’s not all. The GT’s 5.0-liter Ti-VCT Coyote V8 sees horsepower jacked to 750 from its 460 hp baseline thanks to a Ford Performance supercharger kit. To cope with the additional driveline stresses the car was also given a set of upgraded half shafts.
Visually, the M2 Motoring Mustang GT wears a sharp Motorcraft livery and borrows a leftover GT Performance Pack Level 2 front splitter. Interior modifications include custom laser-etching on the armrest, custom Recaro RPSP leather seats, GT500 instrument panel trim, and a Ford Performance carbon fiber shift knob.
