FORD BRONCO DR TEASED BY CEO JIM FARLEY

On the eve of the 2021 SEMA Show, there’s no shortage of big news coming in hot. Just this morning, Chevrolet supercharged our off-road racing desires with the debut of the 650 horsepower Beast Concept. And just now, Ford CEO Jim Farley teased yet another version of the Bronco. Stay tuned for the Ford Bronco DR. It did not receive its doctorate, as far as we can tell. But in that teaser of a blackened silhouette and lots of tire smoke, we can make out that it’s a more extreme version of any Bronco we’ve seen up to this point. Perhaps even more than the Bronco Raptor.

Ford Bronco DR: What We (Don’t) Know

We know for the 2022 model year that Ford has confirmed (officially or through dealer memos) that three new Broncos are inbound: the Raptor, the Everglades, and the Heritage Edition. All three of which are fairly documented here on MC&T. But we have never heard anything on the Bronco DR up to this point. Perhaps it’s a new motorsports entry, separate from the dealer network of information? Perhaps. Our only real clue is that the “R” in the Bronco DR logo is shaded red, just like its other motorsports variants such as the Bronco R and Rebelle Rally racers.

The Ford Bronco is otherwise well represented at the 2021 SEMA Show, both officially and unofficially. On hand at the Ford Performance booth in the Las Vegas Convention Center will be a quartet of customized Broncos, as well as a pair of Bronco Sports. These builds feature everything from tank treads, to a pickup bed, and we’re here for it. We’re also here for the independent builds that will be on display elsewhere, like the lifted one with a live front axle.
