Adele Was 'Not Shocked' By The Public Reaction To Her Weight Loss, More Revelations From 'One Night Only' Interview With Oprah Winfrey

Adele didn't hold back during her One Night Only interview with Oprah Winfrey.

The "Hello" singer discussed her weight loss, her divorce and more during the CBS special which aired on Sunday, November 14.

The 33-year-old's physique made headlines after she reportedly lost 100 pounds. She told Winfrey her weight loss was "mainly" to ease her anxiety. "I had the most terrifying anxiety attacks after I left my marriage," she explained. "They paralysed me completely, and made me so confused because I wouldn't be able to have any control over my body."

Once she noticed that she felt less anxious when she was at the gym, she started working out every day. "I'm not shocked or even fazed by it because my body has been objectified my entire career. I'm either too big or too small; I'm either hot or I'm not," Adele commented on the response to her new look.

"But it's not my job to validate how people feel about their bodies," she explained. "I feel bad that it's made anyone feel horrible about themselves — but that's not my job. I'm trying to sort my own life out. I can't add another worry. "

Adele admitted to Winfrey that she was "embarrassed" that she couldn’t make her marriage to Simon Konecki "work."

The estranged couple finalized their divorce earlier this year. They got hitched in 2016 but called their romance off in 2019. They share 9-year-old son Angelo.

"I’ve been obsessed with a nuclear family my whole life because I never came from one," the blonde beauty said. "I from a very young age promised myself that when I had kids, that we’d stay together. We would be that united family."

"I was so disappointed for my son, I was so disappointed for myself, I just thought I was going to be the one that stopped doing those bloody patterns all the time," she revealed.

The "Rolling In The Deep" singer said she knew her marriage was over when she took a personality test in a magazine that asked, "What’s something that no one would ever know about you?" "And I just said it in front of three of my friends, I was like, 'I'm really not happy. I’m not living, I’m just plodding along,'" the artist recalled.

"And it was when I admitted to my own friends, who thought I was really happy, that actually I’m really unhappy, and they were all aghast. I felt like it was sort of, from there, that I was like, 'what am I doing it for?'" she explained.

The coparents are not on bad terms. Adele and her ex-husband reportedly live across their street from each other in Los Angeles. Adele shared that she trusts the father of her child "with [her] life" and that he "probably saved my life."

"The stability that he and Angelo have given me, no one else would have ever been able to give me, especially at that time in my life," she explained. "I could’ve easily gone down some dodgy paths, been sort of self-destructive from being so overwhelmed by all of it. And he came in and he was stable, the most stable person I’ve ever had in my life up until that point."
