The Jimmy Hoffa Search Continues: FBI Checks Out New Jersey Landfill For The Union Leader's Remains Following His 1975 Disappearance

The FBI is looking into the possibility that union boss Jimmy Hoffa's body may be buried in a former New Jersey landfill following his 1975 disappearance.

The investigation was sparked after the FBI received a tip passed down from a worker who claimed he buried the mob-connected Teamsters leader in a steal drum under the Pulaski Skyway, which was once called the PJP Landfill, according to the New York Times.

FBI spokesperson Mara Schneider confirmed agents obtained a search warrant last month and conducted a "site survey" under the Skyway. The rep wouldn't confirm whether the probe had anything to do with Hoffa — who vanished on July 30, 1975.

“On October 25th & 26th, FBI personnel from the Newark and Detroit field offices completed the survey and that data is currently being analyzed,” Special Agent Schneider said in a statement, per the outlet. “Because the affidavit in support of the search warrant was sealed by the court, we are unable to provide any additional information."

The New Jersey site and tip stemmed from a Fox Nation report from earlier this year. At the time, Fox Nation used radar experts to locate several underground steel drums that a late mob associate's son Frank Cappola said his father Paul Cappola Sr. helped stash Hoffa's body in.

Cappola Sr. reportedly dug a hole with an excavator 12 feet down, and piled the drums on top of the one that had Hoffa's body inside. He then covered the hole with stones, dirt and “something detectable” under the surface.

“He couldn’t fit in the drum body-first, feet-first — they had to turn him and put him in head-first,” Cappola said of how his dad and Mafia associates fit the famous Teamsters chief's corpse into one of the containers, perNew York Post.

Cappola Sr., reportedly disclosed to his son that he was told the specific place to bury Hoffa's body by landfill co-owner Phil Moscato. However, the PJP worker reportedly told Cappola in 2008 he was nervous someone saw where Moscato pointed to, so he picked a different area to dump the remains.

Before Cappola Sr.'s son died last year, he passed the tip to journalist Dan Moldea, who has covered Hoffa's disappearance extensively, the outlet reported.

Hoffa reportedly disappeared outside the Machus Red Fox Restaurant in Bloomfield Township, Michigan. Investigators have been searching all over the country for him, with a former union leader lawyer insisting earlier this year that he helped bury Hoffa's remains at a Georgia golf course.

Meanwhile, the 2019 filmThe Irishman made their own prediction of what could've happened to Hoffa. The movie depicts Frank Sheeran killing Hoffa, with his remains being incinerated — a scenario many experts deemed unlikely, given that Sheeran was allegedly meeting New Jersey mob boss Anthony “Tony Pro” Provenzano and another Mob leader on the day Hoffa seemingly disappeared.
