Muscle car fans across the world likely know about the 1,004 horsepower SEMA Show Camaro Z/28 build created in conjunction with Hoonigan and Chevrolet Performance. What makes those immense numbers is the ZZ632 10.4L Big Block V8 crate engine that was announced just ahead of the 2021 SEMA Show, and made its official debut in the engine bay of this special project muscle car. For the start of this new year, Hoonigan has decided to bring back a segment on their Youtube channel called Build Biology, where they give a closer, in-depth look at all the aspects that went into creating their different cars.
The first episode of the year features the Hoonigan built Z/28 Camaro built in-house, from the ground up, by Suppy and Alex with some help from the crew in just three weeks. The build started with the engine, and everything was built around it. Hoonigan stripped absolutely everything from the Camaro after they got their hands on it and proceeded to add an assortment of parts that would ensure that the car would be able to handle the crazy horsepower from the ZZ632 Big Block V8, which you can buy if you’ve got $38,000 laying around. Additionally, they needed to ensure that it could take the abuse that Hoonigan cars are often known to be subjected to during their lifespan.

Aside from the attention to detail to ensure that the Hoonigan Camaro Z/28 could handle the ferocious power of the ZZ632 engine, and the abuse from the Hoonigan crew, there is considerable attention to detail in the car with an assortment of custom cut-out pieces, including the center console and fillers where they removed parts of the engine bay to ensure that the main thing people see without too much clutter is the beast of an engine. Additionally, Hoonigan has also made some retro callbacks with the stickers on the car, like the Hoonigan name found on the side of the vehicle, which is a subtle nod to a print ad that was made for the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 decades ago.
