WATCH AND LISTEN: 660 HP LINGENFELTER CAMARO Z/28 SHOWS OFF TO THE WORLD

Lingenfelter Performance Engineering is a household name in the Chevrolet Performance community, and when it comes to the Camaro, few do the job quite like they do. Take the fifth-generation Camaro Z/28, for example. Without the use of forced induction, LPE will keep the high-revving, naturally aspirated nature of the muscle car’s LS7 V8 engine intact, while bumping output from a respectable 505 hp to a far more powerful 660 hp. That’s more than today’s Camaro ZL1, which features 650 hp from its LT4 V8, and needs a supercharger to do it.

MC&T previously reported on a 650 hp fifth-generation Camaro Z/28 that the company put together and currently has ready to go up for bid in Barrett Jackson’s Glendale auction March 16th. That Camaro was capable of hitting 650 horsepower. Furthermore, the product demo video reveals that the Lingenfelter LS7 V8 engine is capable of just over 700 horsepower and 605 lb-ft of torque with some minor tweaks and using 93-octane fuel. Most impressive.

Considering that keeping things all motor is the hard way of doing things, this Lingenfelter LS7 package does come at a premium. Per their web listing the package costs $13,495 and current install time is listed at 4-6 weeks assuming normal production volumes. While that may seem like a hefty price to pay, you get a considerable bang for your buck considering you won’t have to fuss with the removal and installation process, and you’ll receive dyno testing of your engine. The engine itself will receive the full Lingenfelter treatment which includes; CNC porting & polishing of cylinder heads, multi-angle valve job & surfacing that allows for 11.5:1 compression ratio. Other engine upgrades include dual valve springs, titanium retainers & valve locks, LS7 GT21 camshaft by Competition Cams, Port Matched LS7 intake manifold and Ported and a polished LS7 throttle body. And those are just some highlights. A full list of upgrades can be found on their website.
