THERE'S GOING TO BE YET ANOTHER FORD GT HERITAGE EDITION

The Ford GT is set to phase out by the end of this year and we thought we had seen the last of the Heritage Ford GT’s with the Alann Mann edition that was revealed during the Chicago Auto Show. There is a new heritage edition coming though. Teased in a recent Ford Performance Facebook post a Holman Moody Heritage edition is going to be the newest to the lineup, the GT gives homage to the third place finisher in the famous 1-2-3 finish at the 1966 Le Mans.

Yet Another Ford GT Heritage Edition

Yes, the famous Ford v Ferrari true story, which debuted on the big screen in 2019. Ford teamed up with Shelby American to beat Ferrari in the 24-hours of Le Mans. Ford also had GT40’s procured by Holman Moody one of which, the No.5, was raced by Ronnie Bucknum and Dick Hutcherson and was good enough to be the third one across the finish line. That same race car was auctioned off in 2018, and pulled in nearly 10-million dollars.

The 2022 Ford GT will sport a similar paint scheme as the original 1966 version which was gold and red, the modern GT will also sport the No.5 on the body of the car as well. If previous iterations are anything to base things off of, we don’t expect much more from the heritage package. Its 3.5L EcoBoost V6 pushing out 660 horsepower isn’t likely to deviate from the other Heritage Editions, but we’re still waiting with bated breath to see what this prototype sighting was all about. There are a few minor special details we may encounter such as interior accents and brake caliper paint. We will have to wait for its official debut which is slated for this spring, to see what has been altered. No pricing information has been made available yet either and this heritage edition will be part of the 1,350 units Ford is set to build for this last generation, not in addition too.
